Dave and Laura Dowler are the founders and pastors of Waveside Church, a multicultural body of believers who love God, serve the community and have a lot of fun!

Dave and Laura’s journey is an example of what can happen when you allow God to “order your steps.”  They met while attending Oral Roberts University and for over two decades, Dave pursued a multifaceted career in the music industry without even the slightest thought of church ministry involvement.  Their lives took what would become a life changing shift in 1995 when Dave was asked to help with the music and media of a relatively new ministry called Guts.  This seemingly small commitment evolved into 12 years serving full time in just about every capacity within a quickly multiplying local church.  Amidst the Dowlers’ involvement in this thriving culture, the desire to return to Southern California and establish a life-giving ministry was kindled .  In 2008, the timing was right, and with the blessing of their Pastors the Dowler family moved to Malibu and established Waveside Church.

The passion to see people experience freedom and restoration through the power of the Holy Spirit is the heartbeat of Waveside. Laura’s own dramatic experience with God’s delivering power brought her victory over an eating disorder. Desiring to help others find freedom, Laura has developed and led women’s abuse recovery groups for over 20 years and has witnessed hundreds set free from their traumatic past. Inspired by the impact of these groups and their counseling backgrounds, Dave and Laura wrote Reality Revealed, a recovery workbook tailored to guide individuals away from the harmful effects of a traumatic past and into the hope-filled life of freedom God desires for everyone.

Dave and Laura have been married since 1984 and reside in Malibu. They have two grown sons: Aaron and Nathan.
